Collaborative
storytelling
Planning
The
collaborative storytelling has been planned to be dealt with in 3 different
sessions of about 50 minutes each of the sessions.
Design
Design
The aim
of the activity is to get the students to create a story by adding 2 or three
lines each of the them. In order to do so, I got my students to access
´twiddla`.
I
consider this application quite adecuate to get the classroom going straight
into the story telling – and avoiding messy registrations and so on.
´Twiddla`allows anyone to access the story and contribute to it – without any
othere requirements. It´s goes straight to the activity!
Implementation
Step 1 –
Students are told the story about a potato farmer. I myself told them. They
just listened and retained the information.
Step 2 –
After they have listened the story some comprehension questions are asked.
Step 3 –
The final question is Did the farmer really have the money?
Students
try to explain the story in their own words and explain what was going on.
Step 4 –
I then told the students that they were going to reproduce the story I had just
told them about. In order to do so they were going to access:
in their
laptops.
Once they
entered the page they found themselves with a brief introduction made by
myself. The intro is of about 3 lines.
Students
then continued the story they had been told about. Each contribution was
numbered to follow an order. The students signed each contribution.
The
final task which was done in class was to print the story and cut each
contribution in different chunks of paper (flashcards).
The
students were then told to re-order the story to make it have some sense.
Assessment - Kahoot (should be done)
